The Teacher's Lounge Scenario Study The key issue regarding the negative learning environment at Blainey Elementary School is the breakdown of effective communication. No answers have been provided for the faculty and staff speculations, making it easy to understand the decline in morale at the school. With lack of additional information it is difficult to determine when this began or its exact duration. I advise that as a new principal to the school, Mr. Bishop needs to research the schools instructional data as well as any other personnel issues. This is essential to developing a School Improvement Plan and will serve to strengthen his preparedness for the momentous task ahead.
I do not concur with the mentor’s advice to convert the teacher’s lounge into an instructional resource room. From the viewpoint of a teacher my first thought, this is a punitive action to take against faculty. This fosters resentment towards a new

I advise that Mr. Bishop speak openly with his faculty and not to dismiss their responses. A meeting with the grade chairs upon his arrival would have served him well. Prior to said meeting he should instruct the grade chairs to gather the concerns of the team to present at the conference. This is the time to address those concerns and begin the discussion on meeting both instructional and personnel needs. I would encourage him to entice others to take the lead on creating ways to promote a positive learning environment. Overview of Organization The organization that will be the topic of discussion in my final project paper is Frisco Independent School District, HR Department. The school districts history dates back to 1876 before the railroad and the town arrived. From then until 1902, students in the area attended small schoolhouses such as Bass School, named after teacher Marinda Bass family, who owned the land the school was on. A fire claimed the school in 1878 and it was rebuilt. Six years later it was moved east to farmland owned by James Howard and it became known as the Howard School and the center of the Farmers School District. Other community schools serving areas now in the FISD included Lebanon School, Erudia, Robertson School, Robinson School, and the Hamilton School, which served black students before integration in 1965. No district in the state and nation has grown faster on a percentage basis in the past 20 years (1990-91-2010-11).
