Team Cohesion
TEAM COHESION:
The purpose for team coaching is to strengthen synergy within the team.

After we analyzed your company’s information, we found that work coordination between older and younger staff in your company can be improved in order to make daily operation more efficient.
In addition, we think that communication is an important factor for every service team which aims at delivering high quality services to their customers. Therefore, we suggest that team communication channels can be increased and modified, not only between older and younger staff, but also the top down communication channels.

In order to increase the value for the team, we have developed a customized team coaching service for all the staff (25 EMOs, 5 SEMOs, 1CEMO).
Now I am going to talk about the details of it.
1. Personality and behavior assessments
Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) or DiSC Personal Profile Assessment
The assessment is simply a written questionnaire which is used to help gain greater understanding about one's personality and that of others. The purpose here is to figure out individual personality traits which direct their daily performance. Also, to identify common group behaviors, as well as to demonstrate gaps in perception and thinking. As a result, everyone can have the opportunity to think more openly, and to work together in a manner that creates shared group understanding and increases effectiveness.
2. Team Building Activities
There will be two to three team building activities which require the cooperation of the whole team. Before the start of the activities, the objectives of them will be clearly explained to the staffs. All activities emphases on communication and cooperation. We hope to help building up mutual understanding and trust between team members.
3. Relate activities to their job
All the activities would become meaningless if the staffs cannot get the underlining messages. Therefore, a debriefing session would need to be conducted in

Every team that exists needs to bond and “build” relationships with one another. This can be done through an activity or event that everyone in the team attends. So if all the members of the team went to the local pub they can get chatting and find strengths in one another. Regular team building events can make the team more involved with work and help team members understand what other members are going through and how they should treat them at different…

In the beginning of the semester our Team Leadership class was presented with the task to help make an organization’s team more effective. We had the freedom to choose who our desired organization could be and to observe them. After much thought and consideration, we chose to observe the Association of Information Technology Professionals, more commonly known as AITP. Our goal for this semester was to observe the AITP group and evaluate our findings to help them become more effective as a team. We would present our findings in a workshop setting, which would in turn, help them see areas where they can improve on.…

In my opinion, the most important factor that aids a team to work effectively is to have an established goal that each member works toward. When each individual is aware of the direction of team, they can consistently contribute their ideas and insights to achieve that goal. Therefore, my primary objective in this course is to actively seek the best ways to achieve the goal at hand. Once a certain goal has been established, I need to remind myself and my team members of that same goal in an on-going basis; so that the team won’t diverge from the direction it must be headed. By continually mentioning the goal that was agreed-upon, it keeps the team moving together which is vital to success. Each member must know how far the team has developed their steps to achieving the goal; therefore it would be a real disadvantage when one member is behind. Also, the most fundamental attribute that must go with teamwork collaboration is team cohesiveness and a high level of commitment. Without working together and committing to one another, a team will most likely fail. Each member must trust one another and agree that each individual will give them the same level of dedication as one another. My goal is to give my team members all that I can offer and hopefully, learn as much as I can from them to enhance the results. In order to reach this goal, I have to actively listen to my team members and see what they have to offer. Teamwork is about giving what you have and learning what you…

    Effective Teamwork

Teamwork is characterized by having a sense of purpose to achieve a clear, specific goal that all members believe is important to attain. A team can be assigned to carry out a specific project, such as seeking ways to improve profitability in a small business. A team could also be assembled to find the right candidate for a job opening. All teams should consist of members who are capable of contributing to the achievement of the goal based on their level of knowledge or expertise. If a team is assigned the task of development of an expense budget, but one or more of the members has little or no budgeting experience, the whole team will suffer as a result. A successful team contains a spirit of cooperation. All members need to work together to achieve the specific goal. This can be difficult, especially if some members possess strong personalities or are highly opinionated. Successful teams tend to have strong leaders who can keep everybody on the same page while keeping the petty bickering to a minimum. Teams should also have a set of rules that determines its operating procedures. These rules help to keep the team on track and eliminate ambiguities. For example, a team might have a rule that all team members must agree on a decision before it can be implemented. This would require that the team deliberate, much in the way of a trial jury, until a consensus is reached.…

Personally, I believe that there can be many characteristics to effective teams but there are a few main characteristics that always need to be present. It takes active/good communication (i.e. speaking & listening), diversity (i.e. skill, gender, personalities, perspectives, cultures), understanding (i.e. different perspectives, different cultures, differences in personalities, etc.), goals (i.e. team performance, personal), and trust. Every team will be different and the goals and purpose for those teams will be different as well. Therefore, there will always be different characteristics needed for each type of team but I believe that these teams are all formed by the same foundation, which are the characteristics listed above. With these characteristics I believe that a team can be built and goals set forth can be accomplished.…

    Build Cohesive Group

Cohesiveness has been defined as a measure of the attraction of the group to its members, the sense of team spirit, and the willingness of its members to coordinate their efforts. In a cohesive group members enjoy the interaction more and consequently come to meetings on time and stay until the end because they feel comfortable being around each other. The aim of a group or a cohesive group is usually to bring about some change, support or insight into either the individual, the group as a whole, or the environment. Whilst groups may well encounter internal problems and conflict at certain stages, when they are working effectively groups provide a positive, supportive environment in which to develop and learn new interpersonal skills. According to research, one way in which a group becomes cohesive is through the development of group 'norms', that is the standards of behavior and attitudes to which the group abides – the groups rules. All groups have a set of norms they may apply to everyone in the group or to certain members only. Some norms may be strictly observed, whilst others may be more flexible. As a group develops, these norms help to minimize individual differences in personality. Norms operate at the group level rather than at the individual level. Group norms usually operate to maintain the group and preserve its integrity, rather than to check individual actions. Research has also shown that It may be difficult to maintain confidentiality within a group, some individuals do not like being in a group situation and they may not wish to express problems or share ideas with others in a group setting. Such people may become disruptive or withdraw.…
