SUBJECT: Team Leadership Approach
Leadership is an acquired style that begins early in life. Some people are born leaders and some are made. Vince Lombardi defined teamwork as “Individual commitment to a group effort that makes a team work, a company work, a society work, a civilization work”.
A new department has been added to the company to be managed by Deborah Wilkes. Her team members will be Ben Safford, Timothy Jones, and Justin Russell. Each team member will bring their own leadership style, and therefore will complete the Jungian 16-Type Personality assessment.
Deborah’s four letter score was ISTJ. These individuals are often given the first impression of being somewhat cold, aloof, and often frustrated by the inconsistencies of others. One way to overcome this is by asking for assistance from team members. But she does have strong traits of being organized and trustworthy.
Both Justin and Ben’s four score was ENTP. These two are my problem solvers. But I need to watch that they don’t cut corners. When I need to communicate with both Justin and Ben, I will need to be straight forward and not pull rank.
Tim’s four letter score was ENFJ. Tim can be seen as a global learner, who is charismatic and can be highly persuasive. I see Tim interacting with the team in a positive and creative manner, but also a procrastinator. Tim will be most productive with Justin and Ben, who can handle the details and deadlines.
The one major thing I have to avoid is stereotyping personality types. These personality traits are not guaranteed by an individual.
