Louis XIV was involved in creating the first academy of science in France called the “Académie Royale des Sciences ” in 1666, which proved to be a vital establishment known for its scientific developments. Royal authority was fused into the science academy which led to an intimate as well as a collaborative association between them, "The ability to nominate potential members (appointment formally reserved to the crown) was also an important power” . The science academy aided in the progress of many scientific developments and was well respected until it was outlawed in 1793
