Furman implies that students should be transformed and taught how to become creative thinkers and problem solvers with the use of the digital literacy for success. The context offers teachers multiple ways to inspire the love of literature to students and reluctant students who have no desire or interest to read, “reading serves as the foundation of one’s knowledge”. Within the text Furman states that educators can now teach and combine reading with digital technology that allows students to reach the technology benchmark.
Doing so, they would have the ability to research and solve problems while also developing reading and writing skills. An educator may help a reluctant student find a book in their interest “we certainly can’t expect them to develop a love of reading— if we don’t provide them with the inspiration for doing so”, this shows that a teacher would need to connect and motivate the student. Teachers can search books through apps and online websites. Furman basically insists that for students to succeed within school that they must have a grasp on technology that will allow them to excel. This will result in students being able to be “digitally literate”.
