Ted Bundy Case: Stranger Beside Me By Ann Rule
OPINION Well, at first I thought, Ted Bundy would offer a lot of material especially forensics…then it turned out his case really offered frustration and a bite mark. Along with the lack of evidence linking Bundy to cases, there was a lack of scholarly resources to be found. I was able to find some resources, but the most prevalent one used was Stranger Beside Me by Ann Rule, who was a long time friend of Bundy. I personally feel many lives could have been saved if the authorities across the country had a better way to communicate, which is a great solution that came out of this ordeal. Also Bundy’s girlfriend at the time, reported him several times to authorities and none of the authorities really acted on it until a series of unexplainable murders occurred. I feel if they would have listened to her, more lives could also be saved. Also when Bundy escaped from jail, other inmates had told …show more content…

If he would have checked Bundy’s cell, he would have seen the hole in the ceiling, I’m more surprised that the Chief Jailer himself didn’t hear Bundy during his practice runs through the crawl space, considering his cell was below his room. In aspects relating to the case in Utah there were tons of missed opportunities to stop Bundy. Even Bundy himself said, that if Police had been much more critical of his apartment they would have found his trophies there. Apparently Bundy also kept photos of his victims in an album hidden in the apartment, which was destroyed when Bundy was release from jail. The Florida cases were processed and handled with speed and diligence. I feel that the Florida legal community was adamant about getting Bundy through the court system as quickly and properly as possible. This is probably from the fact that Bundy is a jailhouse-Houdini, and Florida may not have wanted to be another victim to his acts. I

Ted Bundy was a serial killer who had confessed to more than 30 killings but many people believe that the number was actually closer to 100 (Biography.com, 2013). For the most part, Ted Bundy had a somewhat normal besides a few bumps in the road. Theodore Robert Cowell more commonly known as Ted Bundy was born on November 24th, 1946 to Eleanor Louise Cowell (The Predator, n.d.). Because Ted was born out of wedlock, his mother had her parents act like they were Ted’s biological parents. Eleanor Cowell then acted as if she were Ted’s sister. However, there are speculations that Ted was conceived out of an incestuous relationship between Eleanor and her father (The Predator, n.d.). These speculations have never been proven though. When Ted was about four years old, his “sister”, Eleanor and him moved to Washington State where Eleanor married Johnnie Bundy. Ted Bundy had a fairly close relationship to his grandfather/”father” even though the grandfather suffered from some anger issues. However, there were not any forms of abuse ever reported (The Predator, n.d.). As a teenager, Bundy began spying on women in his neighborhood as well as…

Theodore Robert Cowell was born in a Vermont home on 24 November 1946. . He was raised in a middle class family environment. His mother was a department store clerk. During Bundy’s early childhood, he and his mother resided with his psychologically challenged grandfather in Philadelphia. He was raised initially by his grandparents. Teddy, as he was known, believed that his grandparents were his parents, and that his mother was his elder sister. When his mother married Johnnie Bundy in 1951, her son took his stepfather’s name, and was known thereafter as Ted Bundy. On 4 January 1974, Joni Lenz became one of the few women to survive Bundy’s brutal attacks, but her vicious rape, with a bedpost, caused her massive permanent damage. 21-year-old Lynda Ann Healy, a slender, pretty, long haired law student, was not as fortunate, and her disappearance on 31 January 1974 did not initially alarm the police. Bundy moved on to Utah, taking another four victims during October and November, one of whom turned out to be the daughter of the local police chief, and no effort was spared to track down the killer. Bundy went on trial in Utah on 23 February 1976, for the aggravated kidnapping of Daronch. Ted confessed to over 30 murders, but the actual number remains a mystery. It is estimated that the number of people could be from 26 up to 100. His reign of terror lasted from 1973 to 1978.…

Bundy’s first arrest was in 1975 when the police tried to stop him for a driving violation. Instead of just stopping his car, he tried to get away by turning his car lights off and speeding through stop signs. When they finally got to him, they searched his car, because he was said to be suspicious. When they searched his car they found hand cuffs, an ice pick, a crowbar, pantyhose with holes for his eyes, along with other suspicious items. Bundy escaped again this time from the Glenwood Springs, Colorado Jail on the night of December 30, 1977 he sawed through a bar on the ceiling and climbed through a crawl space over to a spot directly above the jailer 's linen closet. The jailer and his wife were out for the evening. Bundy dropped down into the jailer 's apartment, and walked out the door. The guard didn 't notice he was gone until 17 hours later by that time he was already on a plane to Chicago. Before his escape from the Glenwood Springs jail, Bundy wrote a letter it stated "I have known people who...radiate vulnerability. Their facial expressions say 'I am afraid of you. ' These people invite abuse... By expecting to be hurt, do they subtly encourage it?" In a 1980 interview, speaking of a serial killer 's justification of his actions, Bundy said "So what 's one less? What 's one less person on the face of the planet?" When Florida detectives asked Bundy to tell them where he had left Kimberly Leach 's body for her family 's solace, Bundy allegedly said, "But I 'm the…

Bundy found pleasure in provoking the police and teasing the media. Scientists are still hesitant of the total of victims Bundy killed, due to the fact that he never completely confessed (Salem 91). Bundy used this as an excuse to be kept alive, alleging that he would reveal more of his crimes; he even claimed to be unique and tried to convince scientists that he should be saved from death row and studied (Ramsland 120). The day after his execution a tape was released to the media showing Bundy as a remorseful man. Some believed his apparent honesty, but Ann Rule, an old friend of Bundy, believed other way: “He lied most of the times and I think he lied at the end” (Ramsland…

When the Left wants to distract America from the central point of a burning issue, they find (or manufacture) a "gotcha" moment and yell "RACISM!" There are so many issues with celebrities being tried for their crimes. First of all, they can hire anyone who witnessed anything to be silenced or to say something in favor of them. Also, any expert on the case could be paid to alter the trial. So, cases concerning rape, murder, burglary, and such, committed by celebrities become a big deal. That’s mainly because they have so much money and can find their way out of it. Which is what my book is about. It is about showing the public that the criminal, O.J. Simpson, who is really guilty, walks a free man, but it’s certain that he committed the crime he was charged with and found not guilty to. It was written by four authors. Pablo F. Fenjves, Dominick Dunne, Peter Haven, and O.J. Simpson. There…
