However, some serial killers are more notorious than others. Ted Bundy was born in Burlington, Vermont on November 24, 1946. Bundy was one of the most notorious criminals of the 20th century. In the 1970's, Bundy murdered several young women in several states. He was connected to 36 murders but some thought he committed more around one hundred. He was executed in Floridas electric chair January 24, 1989. In Teds early life he took an unusual interest in macabre (works of art that emphasize the details and symbols of death). At the age of 3, he became fascinated by knives. In his teenage years Bundy liked to peer in other people's windows and would think nothing of stealing something. While attending the University of Washington, Bundy fell in love with a young women from California. Many of his later victims resembled her. In 1975 Bundy was pulled over by the police and when searching his car they discovered a crowbar, a face mask, rope and handcuffs. He was arrested for having these tools in his possession. Police later connected him to bigger crimes. That same year Bundy was arrested in the kidnapping of Carol DaRonch he received a fifteen-year jail sentence. Two years later, Bundy was convicted on murder charges for the death of a Colorado women. Bundy then attempted his first escape. He was found eight days later. The mystery surrounding the Zodiac killer has sparked many conspiracy theories and has been the subject for many books and movies. The Zodiac killer targeted young adults and would shoot them while they were sitting in their car. The Zodiac killer later then wrote to the police in the newspaper and ended his confession with a symbol consisting of a circle with a cross through it and was accompanied by one part of a three-part cipher that he claimed contained his identity.
