Cool Sculpting in Prestbury could be a solution if you are finding it difficult to lose inches from certain areas. Cool sculpting is a popular body contouring treatment that can remove fat from tricky areas like the stomach, back and inner thighs. Cool sculpting uses cryolipolysis to destroy fat cells. This works by cooling fat cells to freezing point. As fat cells will freeze at higher temperatures, cool sculpting delivers monitored cooling to fat cells underneath the skin. This will lead to fat cell crystallization and eventually, cell death. The body will naturally remove these dead fat cells over time, which will then leave you with a more slender shape. Throughout the infomercial, there is an over-reliance on testimonial and anecdotal evidence - there are no facts found and only informal personal evidence is used to validate the claims of the advertisement. “The plural of anecdote isn’t fact” (Park, 2003) and there are far too many anecdotes found within this infomercial. An anecdote can be defined as an unreliable account or hearsay, an example found within this commercial is “slimmer and sexier looking waistline right at home, without ever driving to the gym, picking up a weight, or doing a single crunch or sit up.” Although anecdotal evidence is useful to companies pseudo-scientifically claiming products, it is wrongfully leading for the viewers - this type of evidence is “superficially persuasive” (Lilienfeld, Landfield, 2008) because it is exactly what the audience desires to…

We are constantly surrounded and influenced by the media no matter where we go. With all of the great improvements the media has provided to our lives, it is hard to recognize how much the media has negatively impacted us as well. Media advertises body images that are deemed to be “perfect” which pressures individuals to change their appearance to meet the standards of society’s view of “perfection.” Not everyone can achieve self-satisfaction with his or her appearance. Body image is the mental image of one’s own body based on self-esteem. Since the media does not provide a realistic standard of beauty, it does not help self-esteem and can even worsen one’s body image. According to the National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA), in the United States, 20 million women and 10 million men will suffer from a clinically significant eating disorder at some time in their life. Out of those men and women, low confidence and self-esteem are already a problem especially since research has shown that those individuals are the most influenced by the media and society. Exposure to the media can strongly contribute to the development of an eating disorder.…
