Television VS Radio
In this world of ever-increasing access to different types of media, the big question that has to be asked is which is the better medium, the TV or the radio.
The younger generation votes for TV while the radio is the choice of the older generation. But this is more of a social condition than a trend.
TV has many advantages, the main being that there is a picture visible on the screen and no imagination is required. An audience can just sit in front of the TV for hours without thinking or interacting but in radio the audience has to be alert and actively interact. There is more educational content on radio than on TV. A lot of us watch soaps and soap is a method of escapism from the real world. Most of us prefer to watch other people’s life story rather than thinking about our own. Radio talks more about us, our life.
Before TV was invented radio was the only form of entertainment. The most interesting thing about radio is that it is highly interactive. Even more exiting is that radio is usually live. The host has to work harder to attract the listeners, to compensate the lack of visuals (non-verbal communication). Plus radio is portable whereas TV is not.
Almost every household today has a TV but do not necessarily own a radio. But now thanks to internet we have online radio thus allowing people to get access to radio.
