Tell Tale Heart Comparison

The movie of “The Tell-Tale Heart” by Edgar Allen Poe, is more frightening than the story of “The Tell-Tale Heart”. In the movie as the suspense builds the characters intentions are revealed more and more. The plot is more openly expressed in the movie. When the plot is openly expressed tension and suspension get through to the watcher faster than when a reader reads the story. Another reason the movie is more frightening because the characters facial expressions are shown and how they are feeling which builds suspense. The tone of the characters voices. The watcher can hear the fear or the joy or the emotion, as the reader cannot really tell what the characters tone is, you can only predict the tone. In the movie the dialogue is
short, the narrator is mostly telling the story in the movie, the tone of the narrator's voice is revealed and it creates suspense. Like when someone tells a scary story at a campfire,the tone of their voice builds tension. When the narrator describes how the eye “scares” him he sound frightened as in the story you cannot really add the suspense. Therefore, the movie of “The Tell-Tale Heart” is more frightening.
