Have you ever done anything so bad that later the guilt gets to you?Have you ever hated someone so bad that you would do anything to kill them?Has guilt ever gotten to your head then you just start feeling bad for your wrong actions?This short story is called “Tell-Tale Heart” written by Edgar Allan Poe.The story takes place in a town with no given name where a man that is constantly stalking an old man due to his “vulture’s eye”,because of the eye the narrator develops hate for the old man.The narrator eventually decides to kill the old man and hides him,the police are suspicious and come to investigate,but the narrator is burdened with guilt so the narrator confesses leaving him with guilt to burden him
This shows Poe usage of Irony because you might expect the narrator to not get caught and avoid the police easily,but no his guilt eventually gets to him causing the narrator to confess about his crime to the police when he started hearing weird noises in his head and couldn’t hold it any longer.
