The first Emperor first came into power in 246BC when he was just thirteen years old. He spent most of his life building and uniting nations around forming what we now know it as “China”. He is known to be the father of all of china creating writing, currency, and measurement. He was also the first visionary of the Great Wall. Being such an overachiever the young emperor wanted immortality. Asians do believe in the afterlife so, he wanted to make sure that he would be taken care of in the next world as well. The tomb contains over 6,000 figures of warriors from the emperor’s army. It is to believe that the statues of the army were buried with the emperor so that they may guard the emperor in that afterlife as well. Each statue made of clay and the warriors dressed as if they were ready for battle. The details on each statue was so significant to a person of the time that no statue was the same from another; form hair style to facial expression you can truly see that each was hand crafted to an individual’s physique.
The Terracotta warriors remain where they were found and the state council authorized a museum to be built around the site in 1975. It is one of the biggest attractions in the world today. The museum spreads/covers about 16,000 square meters of land that they divided it into three sections. The discovery of this army is one of the world’s largest archeological find of all time, and it put Xian on the map. The story of the Terracotta Army still shocks millions every day for the vast information it gives on the culture, history, and its impeccable
