Terra Nullius Case Study
Terra Nullius translates to 'land that belongs to no-one'. According to International law, the term Terra Nullius means 'a territory that nobody owns so that the first nation to discover it is entitled to take it over.' (The Native Title Revolution, n.d.)

In my opinion, Terra Nullius should not have applied in reference to the European colonisation of Australia and takeover of these indigenous lands, as the lands were in fact inhabited. However, as per my findings on (The Native Title Revolution, n.d.) and (The Council for Aboriginal Reconciliation, n.d.), the Europeans judged the indigenous culture and way of life as one without 'systems of law, social organisation, or property rights' and as such classed them as 'nomads'.
