Program Overview
Representative Stefani Carter is dedicated to educating and strengthening the minds of young adults who are the future leaders of the State of Texas. Through the Carter Future Leaders Summer
Internship Program, students will have the unique opportunity to participate in a paid or unpaid summer internship program within a local business, which will introduce them to careers in their fields of interest.
With today's economy, it is imperative that we educate and prepare students with the skills needed to succeed in the competitive workforce of today. The internship program, which will help prepare young adults for tomorrow, will begin June 10, 2013, and end August 9, 2013.
Along with their daily workload, interns will also meet as a group to participate in weekend enrichment workshops to help build their leadership skills, as well as to get prepared for the real world after high school or college. From resume writing to teamwork building, this program will give students the skills they need to succeed as future leaders of their school, college or university, and prepare them for a career in their field of interest. Interns will also present a completed portfolio at the end of their internship to demonstrate knowledge and skills acquired.
Representative Carter is joining with businesses throughout and around House District 102 so they can become more involved in the future of the younger generation living in their communities.
Constituents of District 102 are always eager to help in the community, especially when it comes to education, and this program enables them to make a difference and give back. Representative Carter hopes that community and business leaders will learn from the students as much as the students will learn from them.
