They say that there is a mother in a black gown longing, crying for her children whom she drowned in her bathtub then hung herself afterwards. Why? No one knows. One day I decided to gather a group of four friends and ask who would like to come with me to check out the house. They all agreed to come with me. We made plans and everything was set. We were leaving in two days later which would be on a Friday. It was nerve- racking. Before we knew it, we were at the doorstep of the Haunted

Imagine being jolted awake in the middle of the night only to see a ghostly figure staring at you by the foot of your bed. This is what many people witness while staying at the Myrtles Plantation Bed and Breakfast located in beautiful St. Francisville, Louisiana (Nickell 12). The Plantation house is split into two parts, a museum and sleeping quarters for the brave guests who dare to stay the night (Rule 238). The Myrtles Plantation is known as one of “America’s Most Haunted Houses,” thanks to the ten gruesome murders that occurred in the house (Lewis G10). The Bingham Light

My mom and stepdad took my brother and I and some other family members down to the woods one night, as we all wanted to see the infamous Bingham light. It seemed like we walked forever in the woods until we came upon a clearing in the middle of the woods. It was only about a mile though, where we had to stand and shout out John Bingham’s name until the light appeared. As we were shouting out his name, low and behold a light in the distance appeared. It was far off but you could continuously see it moving closer and closer to us. The temperature changed. It didn’t get hotter but cooler. It was very scary to be in the middle of the woods to start off with, then to see this light coming toward us even after we stopped calling his name was terrifying. We didn’t stand around for it to get to close to us. We all started running as fast as we could out of those woods. There was loud screaming coming from all of us. I remember crying and hanging on to my mom for dear life. When we got out of the woods we looked back and the light was gone. We then began to laugh. No one can say if there really is a ghost out there in those woods or if we let our imagination get the best of us. It could even be someone else playing…

It was my mom, dad, two family friends; Ben, Joe, and of course I was there too. Well, my aunt Lucy and her partner Laura were supposed to go but they were too scared to go, so they just stood in the car and waited for us to come out.…

In most haunted house stories now, the tormented inhabitants of the house usually discover some secret just before the biggest, most powerful ghostly display at the climax of the narrative. These discoveries are a way to explain the horror of the house. The 1999 film adaptation, The Haunting, embraces this kind of plot structure. If I had, I would’ve known on page 50, when Dr. Montague says, “some houses are born bad… What it was like before then, whether its personality was molded by the people who lived here, or the things they did, or whether it was evil from the start, are all questions I cannot answer.”…

Finally, at 4:32 in the morning, Clandestine Police Sergeant Sean Sweeney happened to be in the Whodunit Hill Cemetery and he too glimpsed the ghost. “I ducked under a stone archway into the walled graveyard and caught a glimpse of a blue ghoul perched above a headstone. Curls of rotting skin clung to shards of bone, and the lower jaw dangled at an odd angle above its collar. As I approached, the smoky figure sank into the ground and disappeared.”…

I woke up in the middle of the night to a whistling sound. I sat up and looked around, it was 2:00 in the morning. Suddenly, a book fell off of a nearby shelf all by itself. I quickly got up and went to find Viviane. It appears she is having the same ghostly experiences that I had. We wanted to get out of this creepy house, so we ran to the verandah. When we got there we saw a strand of beads hanging on the railing. I snatched them up and they began to glow. All of the sudden, we were both picked up by two ghosts, that were both women. They hovered in the air for a minute then took off, carrying us through the skies. We came to what looked like another plantation, and they dropped us in a grass clearing, and disappeared. We were so tired; we lay down and fell asleep before we could explore our new…
