Texas Vs Johnson
Texas V Johnson was a supreme court decision involving Gregory Lee Johnson and the state of Texas. This decision happened in 1989 on June, 21. The court ruled that flag burning is protected under the first amendment therefore it is not considered illegal. This decision is important because it sets a precedent for the future of protest and free “speech” including non-oral speech in the first amendment. I am interested in this case because I believe flag burning should be illegal and punishable by jail which is opposite of the ruling in this decision. I am interested in learning the other side of the argument and expanding my knowledge beyond just my opinion. (Texas v Johnson, Wikipedia) …show more content…

The ruling was unanimous against Nixon. This case is important because it was a huge part of the first ever presidential impeachment. I am interested in this case because President Nixon is one of my favorite political figures and I want to know more about the reason for his impeachment and the case that limited presidential power. This case was about the 14th amendment which gives equal rights to all people because of a sex based admission requirement. The ruling was that they had to let women attend the academy because it was a public institute. This case is important because it deals with women’s rights and guarantees women equal access to education opportunities. I am interested in this case because I have never been a huge advocate for women’s rights but it’s a huge part of political in the news lately. (U.S. V Virginia,
