Discussion Part 1
Negative & Positive Feedback
For my discussion I chose to do a negative feedback system. The regulation of the blood calcium level is known as a negative feedback system. The glands produce a hormone that regulates the blood calcium amount. If the blood calcium decreases then the glands produce more hormones. The hormone then starts blood calcium release from the bones and increases the blood calcium into the bloodstream from the kidneys. If the blood calcium level were to increase the glands are to lower the hormones. In the article that I read about the blood calcium level I found another very interesting way to look at a negative feedback system. It said that the negative systems they act like a thermostat in your home. When it gets too hot your air-conditioning turns on, once it reaches the level that it is set at the air will turn off and so on and so forth.
It is important for our body to maintain a balanced homeostasis and control the disruption. If it weren’t for the impulses and the hormones sent to our nerves and glands then there wouldn’t be a balance in our bodies. We wouldn’t recover from the disruption such as blood calcium levels. When having those glands communicating back and forth through hormones it brings the levels to normal, as stated above just like when your house gets too hot, or you personally get too hot, our bodies react and send signals to all the appropriate places to get it back to the balance that we need.
