The 76th Hunger Games
Catching Fire is an adventure filled with action and interesting, complex characters. Catching Fire was written by Suzanne Collins and published in 2006, and is about a girl named Katniss and her friend Petah who just won the Hunger Games and are now dealing with all sorts of problems with President Snow and people of other districts. Catching Fire is a book with all sorts of conflict, and some intense emotions. Catching fire is about Katniss and Petah’s struggles with the other districts and the president because they feel like they were outsmarted when they both won the Hunger Games. The Hunger Games is where all the 13 districts come to compete by picking
two tributes to represent them in a battle to the death. So now, after winning the Hunger Games for the first time, President Snow is making both Katniss and Petah go back into the Hunger Games for the second time. Before Katniss and Petah were to get back into Hunger Games they had to get some allies which was tough for them because almost all the tributes wanted them dead for winning last years Hunger Games. This made things the Hunger Games a whole lot harder for Katniss and Petah.
There was lots of conflict in this book involving Katniss and Petah. For example, when Petah figured out about that Katniss was pretending to like him as an act of publicity for the Hunger Games. Also, President Snow is forcing Katniss and Petah back into the Hunger Games and there is noting they can do about it. Another reason is that Katniss and Petah are having trouble gaining allies for the Hunger Games because almost all districts want them dead because they won last year. These conflicts are important because without them the book wouldn't be interesting.
There were many settings in the book such as the District Capitol was the place Katniss and Petah went to after they won the Hunger Games and met President Snow. Also there was the Reaping where it was decided that Katniss and Petah were in the Hunger Games, not Katniss and Haymitch. The most important setting to me is the Hunger Games because that's where most of the action takes place and it's where most of the story takes place. The Hunger Games is basically a battle where all the districts pick two tributes to represent them by fighting the other districts tributes.
I would recommend this book to my friends because I think it's a great book and is specifically aimed towards teenagers to read. I also think Suzanne Collins did a great job describing conflict and characters to get a good sense of imagery. She described the battle by writing about the clicking of swords and arrows flying. She used adjectives to tell what the characters look like and their emotions.
This was the book Catching Fire the second of three installments to the Hunger Game series. This book was a great book to read and a great series because of the dynamic characters and interesting settings and conflicts.
