In Greek mythology, Nike was a goddess who personified victory. She was the beautiful goddess of strength. Her great speed enabled her to be victorious. This is why she is also known as the Winged Goddess of Victory. Nike is the daughter of Pallas, a Titan and Styx. She had three brothers, Kratos (Strength), Bia (Force), and Zelus (Zeal & Jealously). Nike is seen with wings in most statues and paintings. Her symbols include a wreath or sash to crown a victor, an oinochoe and phiale (bowl and cup) for libations, a thymiaterion (incense burner), an altar, and a lyre for the celebration of victory in song. She also appears carrying a palm branch, wreath, or Hermes staff as the messenger of victory. Nike has also been seen holding a trophy, or, frequently, hovering with outspread wings over the victor in a competition. Her functions referred to success not only in war but, in all of her undertakings. Nike was a very close acquaintance of Athena, and is thought to be in Athena's outstretched hand in the statue of Athena located in the Parthenon. When Nike and Athena are placed together Nike is always wingless whereas if Nike were alone she is winged. Nike is one of the most commonly portrayed figures on Greek coins. Some common names stemming from Nike include : Nicholas, Nick, Nikolai, Nils, Klaas, Nicole, Ike, Niki, Nikita, Nika, Niketas, Nico, and Nicola.…

Everyone in the world has a chance to experience stress, so almost everyone knows what the meaning of stress is. Most people who suffer from stress are college students because they have many things to do at the same time. Students have to balance their course work and family at the same time, and they have to leave their family problems in their home to be able to concentrate carefully on their course work. The university life has become a lot more challenging, and it’s much harder than school. I think being in college can be extremely stressful because students have to do everything by themselves. Furthermore, students have many assignments to do everyday. Therefore, students stay awake late and don’t pay attention to the class because they don’t get enough sleep. Moreover, college students in their first year usually lose or gain weight; this leads to stress. Also, most students have jobs and less time to do homework which makes them stress. An enormous amount of stress affects many academic issues; such as sleep deprivation, changes in weight, and time issues.…

Stress has been defined as “the negative feelings that occurs when an individual feel unable to cope with the demands placed upon them by their environment” (Lazarus and Folkman, 1984). Stress is a thing that is experienced by everyone at some stage of their life. College students represent a group which is particularly sensitive to stress. The transition into college life from a school setting can be challenging for some people. The transition involves moving from top dog to the lowest position. (Stantrock, 2004). In addition to the common stressors experienced by the general population, college students encounter an additional range of stressors: being away from home for the first time, holding down jobs, time management, financial obligations towards fees/ boarding etc, and on a social/emotional level maintaining relationships. (Archer and Lamin, 1985). A disturbing trend in college student health is the reported increase in student stress nationwide (Sax (Simple API for XML) A programming interface (API) for accessing the contents of an XML document. SAX does not provide a random access lookup to the document 's contents. It scans the document sequentially and presents each item to the application only one time. , 1997). This is evident in Hirsch and Keniston (1970) study, which looked at the dropout rate of students in university. They estimated that fifty percent of entering students do not finish college four years later.…

The most stressful time, which is known as college years, is the toughest time that encounters almost every college student. Stress can affect college students in various ways such as socially, academically, and economically (Holinka, 2015). The most powerful weapon students use to get over, or to at least try, is to connect with people and socialize. Students can overcome the obstacles of stress through the social support. Students tend to use the source to deal with stress, and its usually the support from family and friends. As for the definition of stress, it is defined as during the daily routine stress is a kind of force that people face, and no force in earth can prevent it from happening. It is obvious that the difficulties that international students may face are miscellaneous. Therefore, students need to adapt to their new life in the UK and accept different cultures. This includes food, weather and activities. It is…
