Some people may say that students can motivate themselves and handle the problems they may face on their own without the help from family and friends. When students have financial problems, they can get a job on their own to help not only with their home bills but also later when they go to college. Students can help themselves to look for any programs at school that may help them later is the future, and they do not need the help from the staff at school to apply to college or help them choose a career. While it may be true that some students do not need the help or support from others, they fail to realize that even if there is no one to help those students there are resources and ways students will still receive help and support from others whether if it is from friends, family, or the …show more content…
When a family is involved with the student’s education, the student can see it as something important to them because of the support their family is giving them. Even if the student grew up with one parent or even with another family member, what matters is how the student was supported and what they learned from them. According to an online website, they state “Students are more likely to be motivated, to earn higher grades, to have better behaviour and social skills, and to continue their education to a higher level when their parents are actively engaged in supporting their success at school” (Ontario Ministry of Education). From this quotation one can see that being involved and supportive of the student’s education can motivate them to do better in school and motivate them to have a long term goal for their future. Students can see the importance is their education and see there is a reason as to why it is important to their family. It does not matter what ethnic background they have or if there is a language barrier, as long as they care enough to spare some of their time to attend meetings for the parent’s child. The more the parents are involved is their child’s education, the more the child will see there is a reason to finish high school and attend college.
