The Administration for Children and Families (AFC) is a federal funding state, and organization to provide family assistance such as welfare, child support, and child welfare. The service is provided by the state and county. The AFC help families try and build a strong, healthy, and supportive attitude towards life and the development of children.
The AFC makes sure children are protected from abuse and neglect and those children are safety maintained in their home. It is also important that children also maintain stability in their home; it shows them how to have an everyday schedule in their life. The AFC makes sure that they have the services to meet children’s educational needs, physical needs, and mental health needs.
The ACF targets children, youth, and families with sixty five programs and a budget of $58.8 billion. Some of the programs are for child abuse and neglect, child care, child support, children, youth and families, disabilities, and etc.
I believe the ACF is very useful because it provides the well- being of families, children, and individuals. It provides the funds for a short term to make this possible. Many families who do not have the sufficient amount of funds to provide their children with their needs find this organization very helpful. The organization will provide them with a certain amount of funds depending on their income for six months to a year depending on their situation. In 2011 many people benefitted from ACF, more than $845 million were released in December 2011 by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to states to help low-income households with their heating and home energy costs under the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). The ACF released its annual report on December 21 on child abuse and neglect. “Child Maltreatment 2010” marks the 21st issuance of the report and shows a decline in the number of victims who suffered
