The Adverse Effects of Junk Food
The first effect of eating Junk Food is its impact on energy levels. Many people skip breakfast and other important meals choosing instead to grab a quick snack or soft drink.
Junk Food is an informal term for food that is of little nutritional value and often high in fat, sugar, and calories. It is widely believed that the term was coined by Michael Jacobson, director of the Center for Science in the Public Interest in 1972. Junk Foods typically contain High levels of calories from sugar or fat with little protein, vitamins or minerals. Common junk foods include salted snacks foods, gum, candy, sweet desserts, fried fast food and carbonated beverages. The phrase junk food itself gives us an idea about how unimportant it is to our body. Junk Foods are deemed to be trash foods as they are high in fat and sugar components regardless of how they are labeled by manufacturers or how cleverly marketed. Majority of junk food choices do not deliver beneficial nutritional values, but we could actually integrate a few junk foods in our diet with an assurance that it is of moderate amount.
Junk Food is the name given to the food that maintains a low in nutrition and a high in the amounts of harmful ingredients. Most of us are aware of the ill effects of the junk food yet, fail to get over the habit of consuming junk food. It is the number of calories and the huge amounts of detrimental substances present in the junk food that are responsible for the increase of the high triglyceride levels. The nutrients like vitamins and minerals are too less in junk food while the amount of calories are more. The enormous amount of oxycholesterol, in these high cholesterol foods encourages the levels of high triglycerides and hence in the level of bad fats. The artificial flavors added for the children also play their part in having a negative effect on the health which has a sugar content that is twice the amount of those added in that of the adult food.
