Throughout the years, it has been over looked whether or not the zoo really is a proper environment to keep animals. Are the animals really being cared for or are they being taken against their will? Are the animals in a comfortable environment or are they just another reason to make money? The zoo is an environment where people of all ages can explore and learn more about different species around the globe. It is safe for the visitors and also the animals themselves. The zoo is a productive and successful strategy for protecting endangered species worldwide because they provide animals with proper shelter, proper nutrition and they create fundraisers and charities to help save the animals.…
Zoos are like internment camps and should be shut down. Animals deserve the right to live out their lives in their natural habitat, not be the source of human entertainment. Zoos are more detrimental to animals than they are good for them, even though there are conservation efforts and educational purposes for having animals in captivity. The negative aspects far outweigh any positive effects when it comes to having animals in captivity due to poor living conditions, failure to educate, and psychological trauma.…
Zoo’s are an attraction for many each year, but not enjoyed by the animals behind the steel bars and glass windows. Would being locked in a cage and have visitors looking in while pounding the glass and rumbling the bars be a day worth enjoying? Of course, not. These actions are what the animals facial and body expressions reveal to visitors taking pictures. The zoo’s guests, being excited to be there and admiring the animals, cannot place themselves on the other side. Visitors sees only how everything appears to be perfect for their viewing pleasure. Simply stated, animals should not be locked in cages. For instance, elephants that are…
The aim of this experiment was to learn how to determine the cell potential in a voltaic cell. We also will learn about the concentration and temperature effect on the cell potential…
Over the last few years, the pressure to cage animals in zoos has led to animals losing their instincts, freedom, and behavior. The threats posed by the zookeepers are encouraging anti-zoo activists to push beyond early efforts such as sending zoo animals in the wild to keep them from being captive in zoos. Today, in the interest of keeping animals in their natural habitat, many anti-zoo activists are trying to change how people poorly treat animals. Although there are those that oppose to keeping animals in their natural habitat in the wild, anti-zoo activists should make every effort to send more animals in the wild because doing so will prevent animals from suffering, allow them to be free, and keep them remain in their own natural habitat.…
As one can see, wild animals shouldn’t be anything other than wild animals. Keeping these animals caged up takes away from the way they should live. They shouldn't be captive for us humans to see, while they suffer. And in the midst of it all the zoo’s are the ones happy, making large profits everyday. Taking away your child freedom. Does that sound like something you’d want to happen to your…
For many years people have debated whether zoos are bad or good. There is the debate about animal cruelty to some extent because the animals are locked up in a cage where they have no freedom. And the other one is how animals in captivity is a good cause due to the dangers that are present in the wild now in days. These two points are an endless debate in which both sides are equivalent to each other. Yet I strongly believe that animals in captivity have more chance of survival than if they were released back into the wild.…
There are Zoo's all around the world and they have a lot of exotic animals you don't see every day but some of those animals are suffering because it is not their natural habitat. Some animals in the Zoo can suffer, According to ''Zoos:Myth and reality'' by Rob Laidlaw, it explains that 'Studies have shown that animals can suffer physically, mentally and emotionally.'' Another reason is that animals are having misery according to article ''Zoos:Myths and reality'' by Rob Laidlaw it explains that ''Animals held captive causes misery and death.''…
I, like many children, have been to zoos when I was younger. Upon visiting zoos, I have decided that zoos are very cruel to keep animals caged up, often in regions and climates very different from their natural habitat. For example, elephants travel for miles in packs, when in zoos there are only several elephants with only several acres to walk around.…
Hunted for the properties of its horn used in Chinese medicine and as decoration. There were only about 29 of these animals in the island of Java, Indonesia, in 2012.…
Animals are better observed and learned from in the wild. A lion is better observed hunting and roaring than in captivity as a disheartened prisoner. Not only should the captivity of animals be banned, but an animal is better examined in its habitat hunting, howling, roaring, ext. People learn more about animals living in their natural habitat than in cages. To add on,zoos take away innocent, young, healthy animals away from their herd or family. Not only that but Copenhagen Zoo killed a baby giraffe by the name of Marius. After many have tried to convince the owners to let it live and after all the zoos option they decided to kill it and feed it to lions.…
Animal Captivity Whether in the zoo or the circus wild animals produced in captive breeding programs are almost never released into the wild; instead, they are doomed to life in captivity. Holding animals captive is just as bad as holding people captive, which is horrible. Animals, just like humans, have emotional feelings, and no matter the reason, captivity should never be an option. Captivity and imprisoning should only be allowed for criminals and guilty people, but never innocent animals.…
Animal Captivity is basically like being in prison with no freedom nor privacy. Compare yourself being in prison to animal captivity. How would you feel being far away from your family? How would you feel to suffer from confinement and stress? Would you like that? Of course not. Well, now you can imagine how these animals are feeling being forced to adapt and live a new lifestyle different from their natural habitat. Some studies say that animals in the wild live as long or longer than animals that are captive. According to Willis, animals die at a zoo far more than what anybody hears about. So ask yourself should we really be keeping animals locked up for our own…
In Kate Chopin’s “The Story of an Hour”, the main character, Mrs. Mallord, receives the news of her husband’s death from her sister, Josephine, and brother in law Richard. Mrs. Mallord grieves for a few minutes, but then starts to feel happy and hopeful about her current state. She tries to fight the feelings at first, but succumbs to them instead. She composes herself with her newly found hope only to be shocked with disappointment, Mr. Mallord is still alive. Kate Chopin’s use of setting, plot elements, and character development help make up a surprising new perspective of death.…
As students, we are very limited with means to promote habitat conservation in Palawan. Information dissemination is definitely the most available option for us students to promote such a cause. There are, however, more concrete ways to promote habitat conservation. There are several organizations in the Philippines dedicated towards the conservation of wildlife and wildlife habitats. One example is the World Wide Fund for Nature or the WWF. WWF in the Philippines has done numerous projects, which aim to conserve wildlife and biological richness, not only in the Philippines but also across Asia. Another option for students is to contract aid from organizations such as these. Why wouldn’t they help us? Our goal is definitely aligned with theirs, we wouldn’t be asking to get paid or recognized and habitat conservation is a priority in their eyes. There are multiple other organizations which us students can contact to ask aid from, such as the Wildlife Conservation Society of the Philippines(WCSP) and the Kabang Kalikasan ng Pilipinas(KKP).…
