Paul The Apostle Paul, originally, Saul of Tarsus was a Jewish zealot convert. He gave Christianity the boost it needed so that it may be spread throughout all nations just as Jesus had commanded him to. Paul is the author of the book of Romans in the Bible. The book of Romans was written by Paul to the people and believers of Rome. He had hoped that this letter would not only inform the Roman people of his missionary conquest but that they might also support him and be a “homeland” for him to spread the Gospel. Paul also wrote these letters as a testimony about how faith alone would save. How faith in the Gospel, Good News, may have your sins forgiven. And with this message Paul wanted to go into Rome and tell people. Through his journey there wherever he stopped he preached, he preached this same message in hope to gain followers. He set up groups of believers so that they could go a spread this “Good News”. This is how Paul became an important part to the spread of Christianity. The book of Romans is a sort of construction of the Christian belief. It explains Gods plan for salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. These truths that Paul has passed down to us are still used and practiced to this day. Scholars believe that the book was written around 57-58 A.D. With the letters to the Roman people he wanted to tell them that we could not earn salvation on our own. We needed the forgiveness and grace of God to do so. The letters within Romans give themes and ideology of how to do so. The breakdown of Romans is as follows. The first couple chapters show Gods righteousness and at the same time let the people know that God is also just in punishment against sin. The next passage of Romans describes Gods plan for salvation toward us. In the middle of the book he talks about how our faith can bring hope to us. Then Paul tells how God has provided for the nation of Israel and to the Gentiles. Paul then goes on to give the people and believers
