Although he is president, Benigno Aquino III does not view himself as a leader but as a servant of the nation. His policies are consistent with his serving attitude. His behavior indicates he is not above the law, but he is a follower of the law like everyone else (Burgonio, 2010). His characteristics of honesty, fairness, and humility further support that he has the integrity of a Servant Leader (Linden, 2008). The philosophies he has developed help to better serve the people. Many are happy with what he has accomplished, but some are upset with promises he has not followed through with (Manila Bulletin Publishing Corporation, 2010). With more time ahead to serve his term as president, the future of his leadership is unclear but looks bright.…

Millions of Filipinos grieved when Jesse Robredo passed. For almost two decades, he served and led Naga with skill, compassion, and humility. One of the hardest things I ever had to do as President was to deliver the news to Leni, after the tragedy. Apart from grieving, I could not avoid blaming myself for what happened to Jesse. Maybe if I had not asked him to join my Cabinet, he would still be alive today. Maybe if he had remained in Naga, he would still be with us. Maybe there would still be a Jesse Robredo in public service today.…

Change could not be done overnight either six years is not enough but even if the president is strangled by these truths he is still persistent to continue what he started; whoever people he might meet head-on in the process, whatever cost may it take. This was the one my contemplation of the opening statement of President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III during his fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA) held last July 22, 2013 in Batasan Pambansa Complex. His very promising statements captures the heart of the masses for it gave confidence for the many that the president himself is ready to combat corrupt public administrators and it pledged hope for the citizens of the country, an undying hope for a enhanced change and a better country. State of the Nation Address of His Excellency Raphael Anthony DL. Torres President of the Philippines To the Congress of the Philippines (Delivered at the Session Hall of the House of Representatives, Batasan Pambansa Complex, Quezon City, on January 12, 2013) Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile, Speaker of the House Feliciano Belmonte,Vice President Jejomar Binay, Justices of the Supreme Court, distinguished members of the diplomatic corps, honorable members of the House of Representatives and of the Senate, our leaders in the local government, members of our Cabinet, officers of the military and polic, my fellow public servants, and of course, to all the Filipinos now watching here and all over the world, a good day to all! We all know all the hardships that our country faced during the past year. Earthquakes, fires, landslides, deadly typhoons like Pablo and even deadlier rains such as Habagat. But despite all of this, the Philippines, is still a nation to be reckoned with. Ranking 17 th in the world as the most giving, we the Filipino people truly are one of the most selfless and loving people in the world, which only shows that even if we get hit by all these calamities several times and even do it all over again, we can still manage to stand up, help others and smile. That's why this year, we are ready to face whatever calamity may struck us, be it natural or man-made. This new year is not just a new start for all of us. It is also a reminder, not to look back in the past, the problems put on our shoulders by the past, and forget it and just instead, focus on the present and look forward to the future. If we are ready to face the natural and man-made calamities this year, then we are ready to face the face of the brand new Philippines! First, natural calamities are acts of God, to which we can do nothing about. But what we can do is be prepared, especially now that we are experiencing the adverse effects of climate change. That's why, this year the national…
