The Arginusae Islands
A group of archaeologists discovered a lost island. The island was once the ancient city of Kane. It was discovered in the eastern Aegean Sea. Xenophon was a Greek historian that mentioned the island. The island is memorable because of the Battle of Arginusae in 406 B.C.
The Arginusae islands are now referred to as Garip islands. Venerable sources refer to three Arginusae islands. However, the precise location of the third island is vague. Researches used geological evidence to confirm that Kane, that is now a peninsula, was once an island. Before the late Middle Ages, a land bridge developed between island and shore. According to an Ottoman map, the island of Kane had already become a peninsula by 16th century.

The Athenian citizens made a bitter decision to execute the generals as a punishment of failing to rescue the soldiers because it destroyed the

In Julia Whitty’s essay, “All the Disappearing Islands” , the author’s general argument is that global warming could cause the sea to expand and rise faster than the corals could fortify themselves against it and Tuvalu could eventually be submerged into the sea. She appeals to her audience logically with evidence when he writes,”Corals are the backbone of the atoll-never recover their health, the island will eventually be swept away”. In this passage, the author is suggesting that the warming oceans may trigger may cause a eruption of the methane now frozen beneath the seafloor, leading to global warming escalating at a catastrophic rate giving islands no time to develop. She also uses evidence in paragraph number 20 when he writes “New…

Legends of untold riches and beauty are popular with people because the possibility of achieving said greatness excites the masses. The lost city of Atlantis is one of the more popular legends, and it originated from a few pages in Timaeus and Critias, two of the famous “dialogues” written by Greek philosopher Plato in the fourth century B.C. Existing 9,000 years before his time, Plato described Atlantis as a great naval power and utopian island kingdom that mysteriously disappeared into the sea over the course of a single day. Atlantis (in Greek, Ἀτλαντὶς νῆσος, "island of Atlas") is a legendary island first mentioned in Plato's dialogues Timaeus and Critias, written about 360 BC. According to Plato, Atlantis was a naval power lying "in front of the Pillars of Hercules" that conquered many parts of Western Europe and Africa 9,000 years before the time of Solon, or approximately 9600 BC. After a failed attempt to invade Athens, Atlantis sank into the ocean "in a single day and night of misfortune".…
