Allowing minors to to use social media takes away their characteristic of being antisocial, as well as making them very knowledgeable about current events that are happening in the world they live in. It is shown in a study at Eastwood High School that two in three students who eat alone during lunch have absolutely no social media to interact with others. This shows that social media plays a key factor in the interaction of the making of new friends. Along with the making of new friends there is also the gaining of knowledge about certain events occurring in our world. As shown in a CNN study over the years, allowing children to watch the CNN student news gives them a lot of knowledge about the world which does not make them oblivious to these things like many other people are around the United States. This allows the students to realize that they should be thankful for…

Social media affects our kid's feelings of loneliness, separating them from the real world and increasing their feelings of depression. For instance, social media spread news of engagement and breakups, job gain and losses, passing test or failing, or news of life or death. It's easy for our kids to become overwhelmed with all the news. Social media also leads our kids to social isolation, especially, when the kids spent most oft the time on social media and reduce the chances of actual social communication. In addition, social media affects family cohesion. Social media makes our kids independent from the parent's involvement in their social lives. Our kids see social media as one way of gaining freedom from over- involvement and instruction from their parents. Kids prefer to stay in their rooms sitting behind a phone or a computer screen, chatting, texting, playing or meeting new people rather than sitting with the family. Like a mother was complaining to me about her teenage son the other day. He was very fond of painting, but recently, he lost interest in his hobby, he spent most of his time on social media. She noticed that sitting behind the screen affected his eyes and body, and he miss the opportunity to develop his personality and learn social skills. He stay up late chatting with friends or uploading pictures on Facebook, and he barely wakes up in the morning. This is one mother and I'm sure there is many…

Social Media is like a paradox of gratification and feeling like something is being accomplished when it really isn’t. The social media outlet Facebook is used to say “it feels like you’re doing something and you’re not doing anything. It’s the absence of doing something, but you feel gratified anyway.” The world we live in today lives for instant gratification and getting things right away and having fun a hundred percent of the time without working and that’s what social media is feeding into. It is giving people, especially children, the sense that they are important and that they’re doing something with their lives when really, they are wasting time when they could be doing something productive such as their homework. So many people are stuck in the paradox and it is extremely hard to get out because the more people switch tasks and look for instant gratification, their attention span will only get…

Many kids are growing up in a technological advanced world. They have phones, computers, social medias, and virtual reality games. Although this may seem like a negative factor, it is not. Kids are growing up learning about who they are with the use of technology while we know who we are but technology is changing that from us. According to the article,”Growing Up With Social Networks and Online Communities,” the author states,” Students can benefit from reciprocal sharing with bloggers from other ethnic groups or nations. By reading peer postings, children get confirmation that they are not alone in how they feel or interpret current events. These benefits increase if teachers make assignments that can connect student motivation with existing resources,”.
