Lennon’s Inspiration

Praise: John Lennon was a musician, who became famous for founding one of the most commercially successful bands in the history of pop music. Lennon later embarked on a solo career and produced three critically acclaimed albums, and two iconic songs. He is responsible for recording twenty-five number-one singles on the US Hot 100 Chart.
Paraphrase: In the 50’s, Lennon and McCartney had such a love for Elvis that it drew them together. When the two first met McCartney said that Lennon played a lot like Elvis. He also said that Lennon looked like Elvis too! On the first day that the two boys met Lennon immediately knew that he wanted to start a band with McCartney. Later that day John asked him to join the group. John Lennon said that nothing really affected him or inspired him to create something great until he heard Elvis.
Cause or Reasons: This proverb was needed because The Beatles are a huge inspiration to many fans and bands. Without the creation of that band the world would be an entirely different place. That is one reason I believe that this proverb was created.
Contrast: Suppose John Lennon, and Paul McCartney never heard Elvis Presley, then there would have been a good chance that The Beatles would have never been created. There is also a good chance that Lennon never would have been affected by music. All of these thoughts could have influenced Lennon’s quote.
Comparison: Although not as important as Elvis, Bob Dylan played an important role in inspiring Lennon. Lennon was so touched by Dylan’s music it inspired him to write, “ I’ll cy instead”.
Example: An example of Lennon’s statement is related to the band Queen. When the band formed they let different genres of rock influence their music. They later combined diverse styles of music into one genre.
