The Benefits Of Gentrification

Gentrification is when new people comes to cities that are in bad conditions where most of their residents are “poor” people. I think that if Hartford North End area comes to be a gentrified city it would have a lot of changes, there would definitely be a lot of results, positive and negative ones. Some of the positive results would be that more businesses could be added and this will help the people to have more resources available and that it would be easier for the residents to get. Also, it would probably means new opportunities, for example if a new person moves in and this person decides to put a new business such as a Restaurant, Club or a grocery store, this would mean more jobs available for people who live there and also more options
to buy stuff. However, a bad outcome for this would be that there is going to be more competition in the area, and people would take this as a challenge for them because of this new business and people coming to the city to make competition to their local stores. Other benefit would that there is going to be more investment in the city, the people who comes to the city would start investing in their new houses and yard, this would make the city to look better and new people would want to come to the city. A bad result of this would probably be that this renovated places would become more attractive for criminals to attack and would be targets which will led to a criminal rate to increase in the city. Although, if the area comes to be gentrified there would be a lot of results coming from that. I think that it will depend on the people who lives there and the people who comes for the change to be either positive or negative. If the people react in a way to help each other instead of competing against each other or taking the change as a negative event, then gentrification would be for better to the city.
