The Big Fat Liar
Big Fat Liar

“It is not sad that you have lied, it is sad because from now on no one can believe you.” This must waken up all of us. Not all white lies can be harmless; it can affect many people especially the trust given to you by them. It maybe hard to face the truth but the consequences that follows are harder. Trust cannot be given, it should be gained. On the other hand, it can be gone in a blink of an eye.
It all began when Jason Shepherd failed to pass his English assignment; he lied about it to his teacher which fortunately believed him for a while. Sooner, his teacher and his parents discovered about his lie. Faced with the prospect of summer school due to his failure to write his English composition, Jason is given one final chance, write the paper and deliver it to his teacher by 6:00 p.m. He started to write about a boy who is a big fat liar; Jason completes his masterpiece and rushes off to make his deadline. As movie luck would have it, on his way to pass his assignment, Jason discovers his masterpiece is missing. Naturally, neither his teacher nor his parents did not believe in his explanation. He was really upset when he realized that he completely loss his father’s trust. As months goes by, he have seen trailers about the upcoming movie of Marty Wolf entitled “Big Fat Liar.” and he knows by then that Wolf had stolen his story. He tried to say it to his parents, but when he finally does tell the truth, no one would believe him.
It can be concluded that what happened changes everything. It gives Jason a better understanding about saying the truth is a must. As he faced different challenges and lessons just to gain back the trust of his parents. Hence, in my opinion, I would say that what he did was a total disobedience. But as they say, “Experience is the best teacher” Jason struggles in many situation which makes him a better person; also he did the same thing with the people around him. He made everyone stand up for what is right and for

Lies are told every day by you, me, and even your close loved ones. Everyone lies at some point in their lives. The simple true is we all lie. Jason goes off by himself and looks at the roll of paper he sneaked into his backpack. We see a quick glimpse that they are some sort of blueprints. He hears someone approaching him and quickly stuffs the blueprints back into his backpack. The driver from the heist comes to talk to him. He tells him that he was glad that Jason lived up to his reputation of being one of the quickest boxmen in the business. Jason responds that he is not in the business, he is just doing what he has to. This is where we learn that Jason was forced to do this because he broke into the boss’ house to try and make some money. The boss caught him and was about to kill him when he realized that he broke into his high security safe with great ease. He allowed him to live but he would have to be his new “boxman.” This last heist was Jason’s first on the team. Jason looks somewhat somber after telling this story. The driver tells him not to feel bad about breaking into the vault, the people who owned it were corrupt and the police were trailing them anyway. He tells Jason that they are like Robin Hood, except that they keep money. After the team is done celebrating, they all go their spate ways with their shares of the money.…

Stephanie Ericsson is going to explain lying in her article “Ways We Lie” her main point is to show that lying is not only going to hurt you but also others. I agree with Ericsson about all people lie. Ericsson starts off with explaining the white lie which is a lie that you use when you think it is necessary to lie rather than to tell the truth. Sometimes you think a lie is easier for someone to handle rather than the cold hard truth.…

As Jason is watching Tom and Debbie, he feels a little perverted at first. However, after Tom wakes up from his nightmare and is masked with terror, Jason realizes he’s not all that different from Tom because they both can get frightened. Additionally, when Tom dies, Jason realizes Tom is even more human, and realizes all people are alike in that they too don’t know everything about the world and what makes it go round. When he realizes this, Jason eventually begins to mirror Tom’s old attributes. Jason starts to grow up more as he is not afraid to ask questions to his superiors anymore or when he uses his dad’s razor (REFF). He begins to see adults as regular people now instead of the god-like creatures he made them out to be. Like Tom before, Jason eventually becomes one of the “cool” kids after he stands up to his bullies-- an event that would have never happened if it weren’t for Tom. Jason gains confidence in his poetry as both Crommelynck and Julia ask him to keep writing, but to write with confidence and pride (REFF), gains maturity as he gets his first kiss and gives the wallet back to Wilcox because “--” (QUOTE), and gains awareness as he sees the people around him as people and not giants from another…

    Why Are Lies Wrong

The debate over the acceptability of lying is a complicated one. Some feel that it is morally wrong and only ever worsens a situation. Others feel that it is acceptable in cases where feelings could be hurt, or if a person’s self-esteem may be lowered. However, there are instances in which lying happens simply to avoid the consequences of a person’s actions, and most would agree that it is morally wrong. Instead of going back and forth between “lying is wrong” and “lying is okay sometimes,” a better use of our time would be learning to improve our honesty with ourselves and with the people around…

Because Jason is not entered into the play until far into the plot, the audience has a biased opinion of him from the start. This time allows for other characters to depict him as they see, without Jason there to defend himself. After reading the first few pages of the play, we already have a bias against Jason and believe he is immoral. These beliefs are predominantly based on the statements of the nurse and the tutor. He is depicted by the nurse as a man that has betrayed his family, “Jason has betrayed his on sons and my mistress” (Lines 16-17). This line provokes the audience and turns them away from Jason.…

Albert Einstein once said, “Whoever is careless with the truth in small matters cannot be trusted with important matters.” If there’s one thing you will learn about me from being in this class, it’s that I live by this motto. I remember as a child, my grandmother used to tell me, honesty is a great characteristic one should have. She would say to me, you know Lisa, in the words of a wise man, a lie can take care of the present, but it has no future. In my opinion the people who truly deserve your trust, are those who will never have the courage to lie to you.…
