The Big Game Case Study
Reflecting on the case studies presented, I believe my biggest take away was from the thoughts Dr. Jungmann provided at the end of the debate of “The Big Game” case study. The class debate was focused on whether the leader should follow policy versus taking into account the personal anecdotes around the student to make an exception. Dr. Jungmann’s thoughts on the student’s responsibility in addressing this issue with the teacher turned the focus of the debate. It seems that a leader is often defined as “the” decision maker. In reality, a strong leader facilitates the decision making process by bringing the right people together at the right time to make the right decision.

Not everyone has it in them to be a great leader. Most people do, but do not accept the challenge. Some people may also believe that they are leaders but are not truly fit or put the position to lead in a way that would be aspiring to others. According to Mrs. Stephanie Fontenot, leadership is one of the most important aspects in the classroom and on the basketball court. As soon as she was asked the question,…

The definition of a leader can be expressed in many ways. In reference to the movie 12 Angry Men, I have come to agree with the quote of our sixth President John Quincy Adams which states “if your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more, and become more, you are a leader.” (Smith, 14) In this movie the main character Davis played by Henry Fonda was able to influence 11 other jurors by introducing the concept of possibility. Davis exemplified leadership through his behavior, thinking, and communication skills in his efforts to persuade the other jurors.…

“The only thing you sometimes have control over is perspective. You don't have control over your situation. But you have a choice about how you view it.” by Chris Pine. This quote deeply portrays the idea of how different people in the same type of conditions can act very differently depending on their perspective towards the issue. Over time, we all develop a sense of perspective and opinion towards people and things, however, these perspectives are prone to change as we grow up to be more mature and thoughtful. In the novel, To kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee, the Finch’s family develops the idea that despite your rank in the social hierarchy, personal values and beliefs are determined by one’s personality. This idea was further developed…

Through the course, I learned about leadership different styles and how they emerged and developed from the Trait Theories that focus on the leader characteristics to the Goal Orientations Theories that require collaborative methods between leaders and followers. As I mentioned before, I had always linked the leadership weight to the leader leading characteristics. However, I would argue now that leadership is gained through practice and experience and it is powered through followers. As a school leader, I will use a mixture of leadership theories. First, I will build my school on an ethical basement and then, I will structure a vision that is shared between everyone in the school. At this point of my study, I believe that the type of leadership…
