The
Big Sleep had a impact on the The Big Lebowski due to the name of the film. I also believe that the plots of the story have the same feel to them. The films both are kind of loose being everywhere; however, as the story ends the plot comes together as a whole and completes good.
I have watched a lot of movies with the “Detective Hero” and the Femme Fatale, yet never knew that it was common during the WWII. Before this class I did not know what film noir genre is. In every movie there has to be a hero. In film noir movies it was usually a tall, slender, laid-back detective. The detective was always well-dressed and he could talk to any social class person. He spoke proper English to the street slang. “The Femme Fatale” is the soft, yet hard woman that can take on tough things. During WWII women had no choice but to be alone and raise the children. Raising children especially boys the mother has to be tough. I feel like women still have this role that they carry in today’s society. Women have been taught to be independent, strong, and use sex to get what we want. Even in the movies still today women use sex to destroy the heroes in the movie. Every time I see a movie the greatest villain is played by a woman. Women use every manipulation of sex to destroy the hero. For example, the movie Batman and Michelle Pfeiffer played catwoman. She was using her sexual wiles to destroy Batman and Robin.
