The reason, Type, and Setting: I selected this book because I had heard many good things about it from past teachers and students. I had planned to complete this book my sophomore year but never got around to it. The book falls into the category of historical fiction and is incredibly enthralling, and realistic. The majority of the novel takes place in Mulching, Germany while it was under Hitler's rule. Plot: The book is narrated by Death, and he/she/it follows the character Liesel Meminger beginning with the traumatizing experience of her brother's murder and separation from her mother. Throughout the book, all the characters are presented with hardships they must overcome, and you really get to know them because of it. When they are killed, the feeling is very powerful and moving.
