A major result of Saddam Hussein's defeat in the Gulf War (1991) and Operation Provide Comfort was the ultimate establishment of Kurdish control over their traditional homeland in northern Iraq, known as Iraqi Kurdistan and "South Kurdistan". Just a few months after the creation of the autonomous zone, free elections (a first in Iraq) were held in 1992. The two main Kurdish parties, namely Barzani's KDP and the Jalal Talabani-led Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), split the vote, and subsequently split the government ministries evenly. In May 1994, however, fighting broke out between the Peshmerga of the PUK and of KDP. In the summer of 1996 Barzani called on the assistance of Saddam Hussein's regime to help him combat the PUK, which was receiving…
The war started when a group of terrorists began causing havoc in their own country. The United States became aware of these actions and began taking precautions to safeguard the country in case of a threat. The Gulf War was one such conflict that occurred before 9/11. Saddam Hussein, leader of Iraq, lead his country to war over oil and invaded Kuwait. Hussein was said to have stated, “We are not intimidated by the size of armies, or the type of hardware the United States has brought” (www.cryan.com 2016). Saddam was defeated, but the United States would once again find itself fighting Iraq after 9/11. The initial war went well for the United States and Saddam was toppled. However, as war dragged on without end the United States began to suffer more and more casualties. George W. Bush, the PResident of the United States, became more concerned about the war and he took it upon himself to deploy more troops after asking Congress (www.cryan.com 2016). One of these people would be Chris…

The attacks on America on September 11th, 2001 killed “almost 3,000 people” according to theguarden.com. The attacks include the Twin Towers, the Pentagon, and the naked field in a rural area in Pennsylvania. After 16 years of mourning, the evidence of the day of September 11th, 2001 still does not add up. Families have been fed lies so the government can cover up their disturbing secrets on the 9/11 attacks. The government has put the blame on Osama Bin Laden’s al-Qaeda terrorist organization. The amount of evidence that has been covered by the government is phenomenal. Here are a few of many pieces of evidence that sources have dug up.…
“What separates us from the animals, what separates us from the chaos, is our ability to mourn people we’ve never met.” - David Levithan. Just under fourteen years ago we were attacked on our own soil for the first time since December 7, 1941 when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. Although I wasn’t old enough to remember this day I feel like I was one of the millions of Americans to witness the terror attacks on September 11, 2001. September 11th was a horrific event in United States history and has left a permanent mark on our country to this day.…

In the 1800s women’s roles were mainly seen as domestic. Their only jobs were to cook, clean, and care for the children. The problem with this viewpoint is that women are more than housewives. Women should have jobs and hobbies. If women stay at home all day they will get bored. Women need to stand up for themselves and break through the gender barriers that are put in place. Kate Chopin uses many symbols in her novel, The Awakening, to portray the theme that women are subject to specific gender roles, and when they do not defy them they lose their identity and become trapped.…
