According to a case study in Cambodia, there are two main factors contributing to poverty namely internal factor and external factor. External factors are believed to be the main cause of poverty in some countries. Those factors include economic instability, high population growth, and corruption, less contact and lack of job opportunity. Economic instability and corruption is the main cause leading the society to the worse. Corruption plays remarkable barrier in economic and social development. For example, when corruption occurs, resource providers or donors may not receive equivalent value in return for the resources given. As the country economy falter, people are not able to earn a living or do business. Sometimes, some business, companies or manufactures even go bankrupt. This situation will also lead to the lack of job opportunity. When people are no longer employed, they have no income to support their family; as a result, more and more people will be poorer and poorer.
