The cell theory can be summarized as
The cell theory can be summarized as:
1. All living organisms are made up of one or more cells
2. The cell is the basic unit of life
3. All cells come from the division of pre existing cells
4. Cells comes in many shapes and sizes
Cells carry on all the processes associated with life, such as reproducing and interacting with the environment.
Diff between light microscope and electron microscope
Parts of a light microscope
Prokaryotes
Eukaryotes
Parts of a cell
Cytoskeleton – Microfilaments and Microtubules make it up Microfilaments- actin, help cell move
Microtubules- tublen, maintains cell structure
Organelles that built proteins Ribosome, ER, Golgi Apparatus
Energy related organelles Chloroplasts and Mitochondria
Chloroplasts →converts solar energy into starch(photosynthesis)
Mitochondria → convert chemical energy into energy more conveniently used by the cell. (Cellular Respiration)
Slide 75
Cell membrane, things go in (sugars, proteins, fats, salts, oxygen, H2O), thingy go out (ammonia, salts, CO2, waste)
Cell Membrane is Semi Permeable meaning some things can get in and some get out.
Fats and oils can pass directly through.
They need to make specific channels or doors for specific substances.
Simple diffusion no energy neede easy
Facilitated diffusion no energy needed but with help

The mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell it provides energy to the cell through respiration. The food that we eat is broken into simpler molecules like carbohydrates, fats and etc in our bodies. These are sent to the mitochondrion where they are further precessed to produce charged molecules that combine with oxygen and produce Adenosine TriPhosphate (ATP) molecules. This entire process is known as oxidative phosphorylation.Mitochondria also helps in the building of certain parts of the blood, and hormones like testosterone and estrogen.…

Mitochondria- Mitochondria are the energy factories of the cells. The energy currency for the work that animals must do is the energy-rich molecule adenosine triphosphate (ATP). The ATP is produced in the mitochondria using energy stored in food. Just as the chloroplasts in plants act as sugar factories for the supply of ordered molecules to the plant, the mitochondria in animals and plants act to produce the ordered ATP molecules as the energy supply for the processes of life.…

Mitochondria- The mitochondria is the energy supplier to the cell. It is enclosed by a double membrane, and is identifiable due to its cristae which tend to divide their interiors. This is like a power plant because the power plant supplies electricity to the entire town. Power plants are enclosed by the building walls and a fence for protection, such as a double membrane. It is also divided into many floors, such as the interior of the Mitochondria.…

Each cell has a cell membrane it is also known as the plasma membrane which is a fragile, transparent outer boundary which forms around the cell to separate them from the surrounding environment (Marieb,E N, (2012).), the membrane allows what comes in and out of the cell. The structure of the cell membrane consists of two layers of phospholipids (fatty substances) with large protein molecules inserted completely into the layers. The phospholipids are an important component of the cell membrane as they form a lipid bi-layer which has a head that is electrically charged and hydrophilic (Waugh, A & Grant, A ,2012.) which means it is water soluble and arranges itself facing the outer surfaces of the membrane, it also has a tail which has no electrical charge and his hydrophobic (Waugh, A &…
