Directions:
1. The teacher will divide the class into 5.
2. Then, she will be describing a scenario from the story “ The Chieftiest Mourner” and students will try to get a mental image in their head of what it would be like with those instances.
3. The group will show the scene and freeze.
4. The group that portrays the scene perfectly will have 1 point. Groups with highest score wins the game.
SCENE 1. Paint me a picture of a scene in a boarding house where the narrator received the news of the death of her uncle. 2. Paint me a picture of a husband and wife who are quarrelling with the children crying. 3. Paint me a picture during the wake at the chapel where Aunt Sophia and the other woman had a confrontation. 4. Paint me a picture of a woman crying before the casket and about to leave the chapel after the confrontation with the legal wife.

Aida Rivera-Ford
Aida Rivera-Ford was born in Jolo, Sulu. She became the editor of the first two issues of Sands and Coral, the literary magazine of Silliman University. In 1949, she graduated with an AB degree, major in English, cum laude. In 1954, she obtained an MA in English Language and Literature at the University of Michigan and won the prestigious Jules and Avery Hopwood for fiction.
She taught at the University of Mindanao and Ateneo de Davao University where she was the Humanities Division Chairperson for 11 years. In 1980, she founded the first school of Fine Arts in Mindanao –the Learning Center of the Arts, now known as the Ford Academy of the Arts.
In 1982, the city of Davao recognized her contributions to culture and the arts through Datu Bago Award. In 1984, she was an awardee in the Phil. Government Parangal for Writers of the post-war years. In 1991, she was a
