Biblical Worldview
In order for one to understand what their purpose is or plans in life, it is important to understand what it means to be created in the image of God. Genesis 1:26 states, “And God said let us make man in our image, after our likeness.” Because no one has ever seen what God looks like physically, there are other attributes about Him that makes Him amazing. God is full of love, compassion, kindness, joy, peace, gentleness, mercy and a host of other characteristics. Man can also inherit those same characteristics but it is dependent on one’s choices and behavior. To be in a position as a counselor or therapist it requires a person that is honest, trustworthy and patient with a caring heart. Psalm 9:10 states “Those who know Your name will trust in You, for You, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek You.” If a person seeks God with a heart to receive, it is impossible not to receive guidance and direction. God also gives us the grace to do those things that may appear to be a challenge to someone who is in the world or not a believer. According to Philippians 4:13, “We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.” Trusting God completely ensures my steps are ordered correctly and I am fulfilling what God wills for my life. Taking every consideration to heart I am better able to assist those who are in need. 2 Samuel 7:28 states “Oh sovereign Lord, you are God! Your words are trustworthy, and You have promised these good things to your servant.” It is comforting to know God is on my side which will boost my confidence as a therapist. A person seeking help look at the therapist to do what they say they are able to do. Having confidence comes from God.
Having a heart to serve God makes it easier to serve others. A scripture that comes to mind is Ephesians 4:32 “Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you. This profession requires me to be
