In the early 1800’s, a number of people with disabilities were placed in institutions where they dealt with poor living conditions. Since then, we began to see some progress including the classification of Mental Disorders, Education for the Mentally Disabled and Deaf, Institution for the insane, and Sheltered workshop for the blind.
Moving into the 1900’s, people with disabilities began to receive benefits from states following the Great depression. The Social Security Act was introduced in 1935 to supply aid to those who were blind. The
