“The Coffee King”

Howard Schultz is a very successful man he grew up with a poor family and none of the members in his family had gone to college, but Howard was going to change that. He exceled in everything he did and showed that throughout his child hood and he even continues to show it today with his Starbucks Company. He is one of many Entrepreneurs that have become highly successful in what they have started. He continues to give people the coffee and choices that they want and that they will remember him for as he ages. His story truly is one of rags to riches and that makes him even more memorable because many people could relate to him and choose to do the same thing and become just as successful as him and it all starts with just pushing yourself and believing in yourself and your ideas.
Howard Schultz was born in Brooklyn, New York, on July 19, 1953, and later when he was about three years old he moved to the Bayview Housing Projects in Canarsie with his family(2). His family consists of his father, an ex-US Army trooper and then truck driver, Fred Schultz, his mother Elaine, his brother Michael, and his sister Ronnie(1). When Schultz was growing up he was poor and to escape it all he began playing on the basketball courts around his house and he also played Football for his school(2). Schultz was a natural and finally got to leave Canarsie because he received a football scholarship to Northern Michigan University in 1970(5). Schultz was going to be the first person in his family to go to college, but when he left for college his father became broke and had a lot of financial troubles(2). This inspired Schultz to try even harder in college and soon he was graduating from NMU with a Bachelor’s degree in business and marketing in 1975(2).
