Tho Chau, or more commonly known by her English name, Gigi, is a diligent nurse at St. Joseph’s hospital. She is small and petite but has the spirit of an MMA fighter. Gigi was born in Hoai tan, Vietnam but moved to Tacoma, Washington around the age of 10. She attended Washington State University with nursing as her major. College wasn’t easy for her – like how it isn’t easy for most students, but she gained valuable experiences that helped her reach her own coming-of-age. In “Big Ideas, Big Problems” written by Stefan Halper, Halper discusses the two issues, Big Ideas and constant media, that negatively affect U.S policies and its public. Advertised sloganeering along with America’s susceptibility to overly cumbersome political movements is the root of the problems that push citizens to feel patriotic in a negative and irrational way. Halper goes on to discuss the issues that continuously arise from each major world crisis by stating “each has suffered [from] … ill-conceived policy responses.” This lack of understating of foreign policies leads to citizens blowing things out of proportion and making simple ideas Big Ideas that are perceived as threats in comparison to American policies. During the Cold War,…

I believe that the best practices in early childhood education include children’s ideas, parent’s values and teacher’s suggestions. All of these will benefit children’s learning as well as give them a good understanding of the environment around them. Teachers should be flexible with the daily schedule and open to different learning opportunities. This way, children will have less structured time and more opportunities to explore and learn. As I observe in some of the childcare centers, children do not have enough time to play or finish their investigation and projects. They are hurried to be putting their toys away, and this does not benefit their learning. Teachers should encourage children to explore and investigate the topic further. The center’s policies should exclude time outs, as it does not improve children’s behavior, but rather stimulates him to get more attention. Teachers should encourage children to solve problems, and help them out if they see that serious issue occurs. Also, the physical environment has a big impact on best practices too. It should be filled with warm colors and feel like home to children. If the children will feel like at home, they will feel safe, which will benefit their learning.…

    Big Joe Research Paper

Feeling awkward is routine in my life from not being able to buy clothes at a “regular” store, to breaking nearly every piece of furniture I sit in. Except for the day I was born, I have always been enormous, out of place and constantly reminded to “be careful” with everything and everyone with whom I come in contact. So it is rare that I see eye to eye with people, but my father’s friend, Joe Kramer, fits that exceedingly lofty order. I have known “Big Joe” since I was a little boy and have, gradually, inched my way up towards his six-foot-six build. I have always admired him and taken his advice earnestly. As I have grown older and wiser, I have become more aware of Joe’s virtuous and damaging qualities and have used him as an example of how to live my life.…
