The author formats his research into two sections: the first section is the Virginia Tech and then the Columbine shooting. The main focus will be about the Columbine massacre that occurred in 1999. Chen gives a brief summary of the case but focuses more of the psychological field as to why this incident happened. Looking into his research, Chen points out a lot of mental illness attribution, causal attributions, racial exemplars and interracial evaluations. The usefulness of his work is well played including a mass of data/statistics to back up his research. With Virginia Tech, he compares to Columbine on how the suspects have mental issues that caused them commit multiple homicides. “Mental illness would be perceived as an external attribution…
Columbine High School (CHS) is a suburban public school located in Jefferson County, Colorado. Frank DeAngelis, a middle aged man who had previously coached football and baseball for sixteen years at Columbine, was the principal of the close-knit high school. He was loved by his students and admired by his staff for his ability to address his students as mature adults. The student body looked up to him and appreciated his truthfulness and lack of sugarcoating when serious topics were being discussed. Three days before prom an assembly was called to strengthen the awareness of the dangers of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Instead of just lecturing the students Mr. DeAngelis used his own life experiences to teach and guide the students along the safe paths that still allowed for occasional goofing off.…
The author of The Columbine Legacy Rampage Shootings as Political Acts has stated numerous purposes within this article. The first purpose of it was to explain about the events of Columbine and attempt to show the reader how this has created a large impact resulting in more wide spread school shootings taking place. With this the author tries to convey to the reader particular characteristics that differentiate a school rampage shooting from a wide range of other school related incidents where violence was a factor. The author also attempts to show the reader types of school related shootings that have taken place before Columbine happened and even specific events which would have led to a shooting but were uncovered before it escalated that…

A documentary can be defined as a film that provides a factual record or report. But how factual is a documentary, really? This presentation aims to investigate the persuasive devices used in Bowling For Columbine. This is a documentary by well known director Michael Moore, which uses a range of filming techniques to persuade the audience that the Columbine shootings were a result of so much fear, greed and consumerism in America. This is his extremely biased idea of the truth. In Michael Moore’s exposé style documentary he intentionally selects and omits footage to privilege his views and ideologies regarding the ‘truth’ but also to disparage the views of those who conflict with the ideals he puts forth. Bowling For Columbine particularly marginalises the views of the media, the NRA and Columbine’s local Kmart. He does this to expose the fact that they are the reasons America has so much fear, greed and consumerism within its society.…

The lives of many were to change on the day of April 20th, 1999, at Columbine High School. With the death of twelve students and one teacher, it was to be the deadliest mass murder committed on an American high school campus. The massacre, committed by senior students Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, sparked debate over gun control laws; whether the availability of guns across the United States, especially to young people such as these, was socially acceptable. This event is what sparked Moore to create his documentary, ‘Bowling for Columbine’.…

11,127 is the number of Americans killed in the United States last year with a gun. 381 is the number of Germans killed with a gun, which is the closest statistic country to the U.S. Why is there so much gun violence in the U.S? What is so different in the U.S. that gun crime is so prevalent? What can we do to change it? All questions Bowling for Columbine poses in the film documentary by Michael Moore. Like the documentary, there is not one simple answer and there are no easy solutions.…
Spree Killings is when three or more killings happens’ without any cooling off period, this often happens at two or more locations. Though cases like the Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado in April 1999, where two teenage boys carried out shootings killing 12 students and one teacher as well as injuring 20 more students and ultimately leading up to the two boys own suicides and the end of the killing spree, was done at one location, the school. In the interactive documentary Bowling for Columbine directed by Michael Moore, the societal issues of gun law and how mental health and bullying can affect people are discussed. The documentary applied heavily in 2002 when it was first made after the shootings at Columbine high school and in present day due to America taking the wrong course of action to improve accessibility to guns and provide help to those who need or ask for it. On top of this he also cover white supremacy and racism present in American culture.…
and 12:08 p.m. a mass school shooting occurred at Columbine High School in Columbine, Colorado. The type of attack was a school shooting, mass murder, murder-suicide, arson, and attempted bombing. On that day there were a total of 15 deaths including both Eric Harris and Dylan Kalgold, the perpetrators. They had various motives including: bullying, personal stress, terrorism, and a video game reenactment. That is crazy right? What kind of person would use actual human beings to reenact a video game? This massacre sparked a huge debate over gun control laws. Secret Service researchers found to believe that Zero- tolerance policies and metal detectors are unlikely to be useful during these moments of attack. In a split second something can happen. Most attackers usually had access to and had used weapons prior to the attack. School shootings are a partial percentage of the death rates that rise every single…
