The Consequences Of Texting And Driving

Eleven teens every day die from texting while drIving and 21% of car accidents involving teens are caused from being distracted by an electronics according to the AAA poll. Through the numerous advertisements and stories I've hear about and seen about texting and driving, I have decided that this behavior is one that I need to change. If this behavior is not changed it could lead to life changing injuries or even death. Feeling the need to respond to people immediately is one of the major triggers why I feel the need to text and drive. Along with responding to people immediately, another trigger would have to be boredom. When I'm in my car and I'm at a red light or traffic is moving slow I think about picking up my phone and scrolling through social media or texting one of my friends. I am willing to work on this behavior because this could be a life altering mistake in a split second and my whole world could be flipped upside-down. …show more content…
I believe it is a decision I myself have to make and be persistent when it comes to this behavior. I can start by putting my phone in the backseat when I get in the car so I don't have easy access to it while I'm driving. I feel like a lot of teens text and drive and many of us don't think it is all that bad until something life threatening happens and they see the real danger of this act.
