The Correlation Between Heat And Aggression
One widespread belief is that feeling physically hot, is oftentimes, associated with anger. Since words can have several meanings and many word combinations, the association of heat and aggressive thoughts can vary. For example, think about movies and when an individual is most angry, their face tends to turn red, indicating heat and steam resulting from their aggressive thoughts. If the link between heat and aggression has always existed, why is it that no one can fully understand this connection?
Previous research that has been done, illustrated the correlation between pictures of weapons and aggressive thoughts, demonstrating a strong link between the two (DeWall & Bushman, 2009). Furthermore, the same study also showed that even reading
words associated with heat can make an individual feel more agitated and aggressive (DeWall & Bushman, 2009). In this experiment, we are looking to further dig into the gap between aggressive thoughts and feelings of physical heat, by looking into whether consumption of a hot or cold coffee will affect these thoughts.
