World War 1 was a huge global battle of the Allied Powers and Central Powers in Europe. It started on the 28th of July 1914 and ended on the 11th of November 1918 and within the 4 years of war, over 16 million people died. The assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand (the Austro-Hungary heir) and his wife on the 28th of June 1914 started a chain of events which were to be disastrous. A month later on the 28th on July 1914, Austria-Hungary waged war and invaded Serbia. Russia then came to support Serbia and Germany invaded Belgium while heading to France. Britain then waged war on Germany. The two sides created the Allied powers with Britain, France and Russia, and the Central powers with Austria-Hungary and Germany. As the war went on, more countries joined each side, including Australia. Australians were enthusiastic to help support Britain and join them in the war, but as time passed and many people died, their opinions on war changed. The war ended on the 11th of November 1918 when the Austro-Hungarian Empire and Germany agreed to an armistice.…
There were many causes of World War I, but the three most important causes were militarism, imperialism, and alliances. World War I started in 1914, and it started off when the Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria was assassinated by a Serbian nationalist. This was a global war centered in Europe which started July 28, 1914 and ended November 11, 1918. After World War I ended more than 9 million soldiers had been killed and about 21 million soldiers were wounded. The two nations that were effected most in the war were Germany and France. Also World War I marked the end of the four imperial dynasties which were Germany, Austria-Hungary, Russia, and Turkey.…
Espionage and Sedition Acts: a person could be fined up to $10,000 and sentenced to 20 years in jail for interfering with the war effort or for saying anything disloyal, profane, or abusive about the government or the war effort.…
Fathers and fathers sons marched by the doors of daughters and distraught wives in the pursuit of their country's freedom. World War 1 was fought from July 1914 to November 1918. The main powers involved were Great Britain, France, Russia, Italy, Germany, and Austria-Hungary. The war predominantly took place in Europe. What we want to know is, what was the hidden cause of WWI. Of the three most important causes of WW1, the main cause was militarism.…
World War I has a debatable issue about how the war was started. Some believe that each nation started it equally but I believe it was from a different cause. Austria-Hungary’s harsh act against Serbia and Germany’s unneeded declaration of war against Russia and France actually cause World War I. Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia to quickly and then Germany declared wars on nations because it was “defending itself” even though it just wanted to gain more territories and use its large military. These rash acts caused the whole world to plummet into the largest war man had ever seen.…
World War I was a major event of deaths, disasters, causes and effects on the European countries. World War I was a war against three European countries England, France, and Russian versus Germany, Italy and Austria-Hungary. Friedrich Engels explains in The Origins of the First World War (Doc A) the aftermath of the Thirty Years War caused many devastating effects like famine, sickness, want and brutalizing the population and this is being compared to World War I saying that the same outcome happened in three or four years instead of thirty. World War I was caused by different factors nationalism is one of the major causes, the fight over colonies, and the expenditure on the armies to cause such a massive war. The Franco-Russian Military Convention (Doc E) explains that France and Russian will work together to help each other when either are attack by the enemy. This document is helpful, but it does not follow the 3 that are being explained. These factors alone could have caused the war itself but there are still many others to be explained another time.…
Was the death of one single man worth over 60 million casualties? Or was it Something more ? What was the real Underlying cause of the war that changed millions of lives? in the summer of 1914 Europe went into war with itself. It was a war that many expected to be short. In fact, it lasted more than four long, terrible years, taking the lives of millions of combatants and civilians. After World War I, Germany had been badly beaten and they felt like they were being punished because of their loss of the first war. That anger helped to fuel the Nazi partnering, and the election of Adolf Hitler. That is basically the start the World War II, but World War I was a different story. In Europe “the pot was boiling” and the heat of tension was rising, so when Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated this set everything off. And the countries were now…
World war 1, also known as the Great War, happened in 1914-1918. World War 1 was the first global conflict. More than 38 million people suffered from casualties. When fighting for war, the soldiers were in Trench Warfare. This meant that they were fight in man made trenches. Trenches would get deep and muddy. The soldiers had to live inside them and with the dead bodies that would fall, the soldiers would have to bury them inside the trenches, so each body was stacked on top of another. A spark of the war was the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. He was assassinated by a Serbian nationalist. The causes of World War 1 was due to Nationalism, Militarism, and…
World War 1 had a major impact on the world and everyone in it. There were 4 main problems that could’ve cause WW1. Militarism, Alliances, Imperialism, and Nationalism. The most important one was Militarism. It made people think about the “importance” of their navy/military. By other countries having better navy/military that could cause problems between countries. It could make them jealous of each other, and make them want to go to war.…
One of the main causes of World War one was the growing force of nationalism. Nationalism is the large numbers of people feeling that people have of being loyal and proud of their country with the belief of that the country is better than other countries. This nationalism created a fierce competition and rivalry between Europe's power.…
One of the first causes of World War 1 began on July 28th, 1914 when Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia. The cause of this was because in Sarajevo Serbian, nationalist assassinated Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife. The Austrians then were convinced it was the Serbian government turning against them. Austria-Hungarians then held demands against the Serbs such as: All books & newspapers criticizing Austrians will be banded, All Anti-Austrian teachers in Serbian schools are fired, and Serbia condemns propaganda against the Austria-Hungarians (Document 3). When Serbians refused they then began the war.…
World War 1 was one of the most deadly wars ever recorded in the history of wars. The war began July 28, 1914. In this war two unions or two sides where formed. One team had the Allies which included the following countries: Britain, France, Russia, Italy and the United States. The other team was called the Central Power, which included the following countries: Germany, Austria-Hungary, Ottoman Empire and Bulgaria. The spark that ignited this “Great War” was the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. Another reason would be that other counties began to be imperialistic. For example Brittan owned ¼ of the world countries like Canada, India, Ceylon, Burma, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, several Pacific and Caribbean Islands, South Africa, Rhodesia, Egypt and other parts of Africa. But the United States didn’t enter this war till the third year.…
To be able to have a better understanding of who was responsible for the first World War you first need to know causes that led to it and how it happened. WWI began in The Balkans on late July 1914 but there also are several reasons for it. Among these causes there were economic, territorial and political conflicts between the great European power in the 40 years leading them up to the war. Militarism also was a one of the reasons, this is the government believed that a country always should have strong and capable military that was prepared to defend or to promote national interests. Other significant reasons were: Alliances between the countries, that they would protect each other…
