In 1965 scientists started taking pictures that show that there might be water on Mars, and the scientists became so curious that they decided to send a space rover to Mars. The space rovers names were Spirit and Opportunity and they were launched on July 7 in 2003. Later, they launched a second rover named Curiosity in 2011. The goals of the missions were to find out if there was water on Mars, which could support life there, as well as to observe the geography of Mars in case we ever put a human on the planet. Apollo 11 was sent to the moon on July 16, 1969 and came back on July 24, 1969. The reason Apollo 11 was launched was so the United States could be the first country to ever put a man on the moon and so people would be able to work on the moon. We now know that the moon has no life, the surface is covered with rocks and dust, and the moon is made of a rocky material, thanks to the astronauts. The most famous astronauts on the mission were Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin. Neil Armstrong was the first man to walk on the moon and Buzz was the second.
