I realize that a majority of drivers on the road have some sort of a problem with delivery drivers whether they were speeding, cut you off, or just in your way. So whenever I have a Dominos car top on, I always make sure to stay at a reasonable speed. There was this one time I was on a delivery, and I was in the left lane coming up to a merge. I observed a car zipping up through my side mirror and as violently as he could, he cut me off. Obviously this would make anyone angry if they had never even seen the car before in their life, but I continued on my way. When we got to the next light he rolled down his window and said, “You’re going to lose your job!!”. Naturally I responded with, “Why, was I going to slow for you?”. I had that response because I wasn’t in a rush but he clearly was, due to the fact that he gave me the one finger solute and then screeched his tires pulling away. Road rage is a big issue and could cause injury or death, so it’s in everyone’s best interest to take things that happen on the road with a grain of salt.
The road can be an extremely scary place, and if you don’t use enough caution it can also be a deadly one. Just last year in the United States there were 21,132 deaths that occurred due to traffic accidents (Green). The numerous distracted and impaired drivers have a large play in this number. The idea that we can save lives by keeping our eyes on the road and obeying traffic laws, seems simple enough. Although the task at hand is not a difficult one, we need all drivers to be defensive and fully aware. Without these two important traits we would unfortunately become: just another
