The Deepest Earthquake In Puerto Rico
In 1993 in Central Puerto Rico there was a huge hurricane with a magnitude of 4.7. There was also a earthquake with a magnitude of 8. The hurricane was named was named Hurricane Ching. The earthquake was called Chong. Ching was the biggest hurricane to ever hit Puerto Rico. It blew over houses, destroyed land, and flooded everything. Chong was the fourth biggest earth quake to hit Puerto Rico. There was a family hit by both disasters. There was a total of nine people in the Wang family. Lavar was the father and Tina was the mother. They had three sons; Lonzo was the oldest out of the boys, then there was Liangelo, and then Lamelo was the youngest. They also had three daughters; Uneek was the oldest out of the girls, then there was Carrie,
and then Trisha was the youngest. Their grandma Zima, was also living with them at the time. The Wang family had a rough time during this time. Their house got absolutely destroyed. Their barn had some damage but was still standing. All of their crops got destroyed and most of their animals died. While the storm was taking place they took some supplies and went down into the basement of their barn to protect themselves. They stayed down there for most of the storm and had to deal with about three feet of water. To sleep they had to lay on the tables that were down there. Luckily, the barn didn’t get too damaged like their has did from the horrible disasters. The storm lasted for about a week. The recovery for the Wang family was a long and tough time. They had very little food and were starving. At the beginning of the sixth day of the storm a rescuing service came but only had enough room for six more people. Lavar and Tina decided that the all of the kids would go and they would stay back with Zima. When they were about to leave Lonzo said that he wanted to go instead of himself. After awhile his grandma agreed to go. After the storm ended rescuers went back to get the three that stayed. When the rescuers came back after about a day the group that was rescued found out that Lonzo, Lavar, and Tina were missing. They pronounced that they were dead. Zima was extremely thankful for Lonzo risking his life to save hers.
