“I’ll take a large Coke please.” Words I find myself saying way too habitually and way too often. Opening the refrigerator and grabbing a soda pop is easy to do in our fast paced society of today. It takes too long to get a cup out of the cabinet, grab the milk or juice out of the refrigerator, and pour. At least this is my way of thinking. I want something that is quick and easy. Americans, like myself, must think along these lines as well. Gary J. Kaplowitz states “Soda pop has become a firmly entrenched staple of the American diet and as American as apple pie.” (para. 9) This does seem to be the case. It is hard to go anywhere with out seeing a vending machine with the most popular brands of cola, or go to a grocery store or restaurant without having the majority of options for thirst quenching being a soda. It is not to look over the fact that this easy drink of choice is slowing killing our bodies. The effects soda pop has on the human body are outrageous and scary at the very least. Soda pop pretty much affects every major function of our bodies and causes many health problems that can lead to major lasting effects on our everyday function ability. Diet sodas to regular sodas, the effects of consuming them are horrendous on the body. The effects on the teeth, brain, body weight, heart, digestive system, and skeletal system are harmful in numerous ways. Let’s take a look at the teeth. A person needs to have strong teeth to chew the food they consume. When the enamel that covers the teeth gets weak, it causes the teeth to get weak.
