The English Language In The 1920's

The English language is very different today than it was in the 1920’s. Drastically changing over the years due to cultural, social standards and status. An alcoholic beverage that used to be called “giggle water”, or “giggler” due to some of the effects that alcohol can have on a person. But, if you were drunk due to too many “gigglers” and become a “splifficated” or “zozzled” they would call you a “boozehead”. After work “drugstore cowboys” which were young bachelors, would wait outside of a brothel or “juice joint” and call to passing women in search of a date for the night. The girls would get all dressed up in their “glad rags” or fine attire, in hopes of attracting “drugstore cowboys”. If they attracted a man they didn’t want t0 dance
